So, am I the LAST person to hear of Essence makeup? I was in Shoppers Drug Mart the other day and I was really surprised to see a new makeup stand. So I took a closer look, and I was pleasantly surprised! Essence seems like a cross between Elf and Bonnebell. It's got that young feel of Bonnebell but with quite a few really quality gems. There were a few really nice shades of eyeshadow and lipsticks, and of the items I decided to try, I found they were good purchases. The brand in generally ranges from 1-4 dollars-- so it's definitely affordable. Mostly color cosmetics, they still carry a matte powder and concealer along with a few synthetic brushes.I picked up a couple lip products and some eye products which I will be swatching shortly, but I didn't go crazy because I wanted to try before I hauled, lol.
Have you guys used this brand before?
You can check out their website to see where you can buy their products at Essence.eu
Here is a pull-out of all the eyeshadow colors. I REALLY wanted the bottom shade in the second row, but ended up going for the bottom one in the third row. So far the pigmentation is pretty good, though I though the pink and the dark purple didn't come off as well as I'd hoped. Overall, really decent product, though!
And Cruelty-free, they be!
They had some eyeshadow bases- which looked relatively similar to a paint pot, along with gel-liners, multiple mascaras and pencil liner products. I'll definitely be going back to check out more from Essence.

I've tried some of their products and I have to say I'm impressed! I didn't expect them to be good, but at that price I figured I haven't got much to lose!

Wow, this is great. I haven't seen this at my local Shopper's yet but I'm sure I'll see this line when I move south.
ReplyDeleteEssence brand is well-known in Europe :) They're cheap but the quality is quite good. And the best part is that they launch many limited edition items several times a year.
ReplyDeleteI just tried them last night. Had to rush out at that price. Bought gel eyeliner, liquid eyeliner, quad shadows in pink grey black and silver and bought a few lip glosses. Oh the 2 things of eye liner was an over kill but I thought I was buying a mascara lol. But Tried all the products and they stayed on with no problem. The only makeup I had an issue with is the smashbox DNA mascara. Other then that I pretty much looked like a fresh daisy, ok not all the time. But it did stay.
ReplyDeleteI love this brand and lots of my eyeshadows in palettes are from Essence. Their highlighter is a dream, so soft!
ReplyDeletemost of my base make up is from the bodyshop, primer, foundation and finishing powder... but 80% of my eye-shadows, blushes and nail-polish are from essence and catrice (the "adult" and tiny bit more expensive version of essence) ...
